Abstract

Preservation has been defined as interoperability with the future. The OAIS Reference Model identifies the role Representation Information plays in maintaining access to the information content of digital data. We discuss an additional role that Representation Information can play in facilitating interoperability to support e-Research on the GRID right now. This allows us to identify Representation Information as key to digital curation and a Registry Repository of Representation Information as an important service for preservation as well as e-Research.
