Eprints at ERPANET and the DCC
The European Commission funded ERPANET Project is building an expandable European Consortium, to make viable and visible
information, best practice and skills development in the area of digital preservation of cultural heritage and
scientific objects. The over-riding purpose of the Digital Curation Centre (DCC) is to support and promote continuing
improvement in the quality of data curation and of associated digital preservation. More information about ERPANET can
be found at http://www.erpanet.org and further information about the DCC can be
found at http://www.dcc.ac.uk
ERPANET and the DCC have established this Open Archives ePrint service to make international digital curation and
preservation research outputs visible, accessible and usable through a global network of interlinked open archive
services. The aim of this service is to complement existing publication routes and services. One of the major strengths
of this service is that it has multi-institutional, international support from the ERPANET partner institutions, the
DCC partner institutions, PADI, and the DAEDALUS Project. In the event that ERPANET and/or the DCC cease to be viable,
the Swiss Federal Archives, a founding partner of ERPANET, has agreed to acquire and preserve the contents of this
archive for future generations.
More information
The ERPAePRINTS service is running on eprints.org open archive software, a freely distributable archive system
available from eprints.org. The open archives interoperability is achieved
using open archives software developed at Southampton University. Other institutions are invited (and encouraged)
to set up their own open archives for author self-archiving, using the freely-distributable eprints.org software
used at this site.
